For 30 years, Motivation has been working to help people with disabilities in some of the world’s poorest countries live the independent, dignified lives they deserve.

The Lewin Trust is one of our main supporters for our ‘Survive and Thrive’ project in Malawi. The aim is to provide young children with cerebral palsy (CP) and related developmental disabilities the support and assistive technology (like wheelchairs) they need for improved health and wellbeing. Working in five rural, inaccessible districts, we are working with a number of local partners to identify the children, educate and train their parents/caregivers, and train local health and rehabilitation professionals.

Cerebral palsy is the most common childhood disability in low-income countries like Malawi. Thanks to the Lewin Trust, through Survive and Thrive we will be able to give the best start in life to 300 children with cerebral palsy and support their families. The Lewin Trust’s grant will also enable us to provide the appropriate wheelchairs for all the children.
