Kindergarten and Kids Joy Centre for Ukrainian Refugee Children in Danes and Sighisoara, Romania
The Kindergarten and Temporary School for Ukrainian Refugee Children in Romania support children from Ukrainian families who have fled to Romania due to the war.
Funding from the Lewin Trust has helped us to provide a safe space at the Kindergarten in which often traumatised children under 5 years can play, find a sense of normality and begin to learn, grow and develop with support from a psychologist providing professional care and counselling for the children. The Kids Joy Centre for children aged 6 to 11 offers bright and cheerful surroundings, with fun and interactive activities involving art, drama, music, crafts, outings and everything which lifts the spirits of the children, helps them to grow in confidence and enables them to form strong and trusting relationships with each other and with the teaching staff.
The project is ensuring the stability of families within the Ukrainian refugee ecosystem in Danes and Sighisoara as the provision of childcare: as well as supporting the development of the children, it also frees the Ukrainian parents to search for work in Romania, with a view to supporting themselves and their families.
