At the Peter Pan Centre we are dedicated to life-changing care and education for children with special educational needs and disabilities and the support their families deserve.
At our centre in Newcastle under Lyme we support children aged 0-5 through weekly specialist Education, Care and Development sessions that follow the Early Years Foundation Stage, delivered by our team of dedicated and caring expert Specialist Practitioners. We work closely with the professional teams involved in children’s care to ensure consistency of support throughout the early years. Our school transition service helps families through the sometimes emotionally-taxing process of navigating the SEND system and securing the most appropriate school place for their child. We also provide advice and guidance to schools and other settings to enable them to better support children with SEND. Our parent carers benefit from a much-needed respite break.
At Peter Pan, our Family Support and Outreach Service is here for the whole family. Through home visits and referrals, formal family support, weekend social activities, training courses, help with form-filling and meeting children’s needs in the home, our specialist early intervention helps families to address the complex multiple challenges they face. We also deliver weekly or fortnightly stay and play sessions for 0-5 year-olds who need extra support at locations across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. Carefully planned to include a specific educational activity to promote children’s development, sessions also bring families together to reduce parent carer isolation.
Thanks to the Lewin Trust, some of the most vulnerable children in our community are developing essential life, social and communication skills, whilst their parent carers’ confidence and resilience grows.
