At Romsey Mill, we care passionately about supporting young parents to build up confidence, knowledge and connections, recognising their own enormous capability to care for their little one. We also believe, in line with all the evidence, that the earliest years of a child’s life are profoundly important. And if we believe that, then we must also believe that the wellbeing of every mother, father and carer matters immensely. If the work of bringing up children is significant work, then let’s care for the workers.

Romsey Mill’s Young Parents Programme supports young parents to give their babies the best start in life. We aim to equip young parents with the skills and confidence they need to parent effectively. The relationships that the team have with the young parents are essential in building the trust necessary for them to be open about their experience as parents, in both one to one and group settings, allowing us to offer advice on preparing for birth, breastfeeding, sleep, weaning and healthy eating, as well as on housing, benefits and returning to education or employment. The baby groups and courses we run are also vital in that they allow young parents to make friends and build a support network with other young parents. Relationships that we hope will last long after the end of their time with us.
