Our application process has two stages, the details of which are set out below.
Expression of Interest
If you think your project would benefit from a grant from The Lewin Trust, please complete the Expression of Interest Form found below.
The kinds of projects that The Lewin Trust wants to support will have clear project impact, making a tangible difference with respect to poverty or inequality, breaking cycles of dependence and helping children aged 0-5, and where appropriate their parents/carers, to have the best possible start in life.
Please consult our What We Support page for more information about the parameters which apply to all applications (in terms of focus, governance, finance and so on).
We kindly request that Expressions of Interest be submitted no later than seven days before the final application deadline in any given round, in order to give you sufficient time to complete the full application. As such, the next deadline for submission of an EOI will be Thursday 25 June 2026.
Making a Formal Application
If, once we’ve considered your Expression of Interest, we would like you to submit an application, we will send you an Application Form and will ask you to submit via email to the Trust at info@lewintrust.org.
Your application should include details about:
- Your organisation – charity details; the purpose of the organisation; and how you meet The Lewin Trust’s vision and focus.
- Your project – what you want the funding for; what experience you have in this area to support your application; what outcomes you hope to achieve; and how you intend to measure impact.
- The project’s finances – a breakdown of the budget for the project, including the areas that the requested grant will fund; information about how other funding will be, or has already been, secured; and, if applicable, how the project will continue beyond the lifetime of any grant.
- Supporting documents – other supporting documentation, including a copy of your most recent accounts and a safeguarding policy updated within the last twelve months.
- Details of two referees willing to vouch for the project or the wider charity (email addresses preferred).
Next closing date for applications: Thursday 2 July 2026.
Assessment and Award
All applications will be assessed and then considered at a Trustees Meeting. These are usually held three times a year, according to the following pattern:
2 July 2026
5 November 2026
25 February 2027
Please note that the Trust receives more applications per round than it is able to fund and that, unfortunately, we are unable to fund every project.
If you need any advice on the application process, please contact Anne Andrews at info@lewintrust.org.
Re-Applications
In fairness to other applicants, we ask that charities who are unsuccessful in applying for funding do not re-apply in relation to the same project within a twelve-month period (although an application for a different project may be considered earlier than that). We also ask that only one application per organisation be made within each round.
Applicants who are successful and who receive a grant may re-apply for further funding, for the same or a similar project, via the normal application process, during their last year of support. The earliest that further funding could begin will be at the end of the current award period (as set out in the grant agreement).
