Early Years Scotland (EYS) supports families in some of Renfrewshire’s most deprived communities, including Ferguslie, Foxbar and Gallowhill—areas facing stark levels of poverty, social isolation and growing demand for early years intervention.
Many families are navigating complex challenges: living on low incomes, experiencing trauma, poor mental health, or raising children with additional support needs or disabilities, often with little or no family support around them. Many of the children are already showing signs of developmental delay, behavioural distress or attachment difficulties by age two.
That’s why EYS’s free, play-based sessions for children aged 0-5 – including baby massage, toddler yoga, mindfulness buggy walks and Stay, Play and Learn groups – are so essential. They provide warm, stigma-free spaces where parents and children can begin to thrive together – where parents feel safe enough to open up, and confident enough to support their child’s learning and emotional development.
By intervening early, at the point when it matters most, EYS is helping to break intergenerational cycles of disadvantage and ensure that every child, regardless of background, disability or circumstance, is given the best possible start in life.
