Kind Words and Play
Koala North West (Koala NW) is a family support charity supporting families’ emotional well-being and parenting strategies across Wirral and Cheshire West. A team of volunteers and staff provide tailored help through their Early Years Service, Family Support Service and SEND Services – with the majority of their work one to one in family homes. Kind Words and Play is Koala NW’s tailored, trauma-informed programme designed to strengthen the parent-child bond, rebuild confidence, and equip families with positive strategies to manage behaviour and emotions. Working closely with parents in their own homes, the approach centres on encouragement, empathy, consistent routines, and purposeful play, and works towards the following outcomes:
- Emotional resilience in parents and children
- Bonding through play and shared activities
- Positive reinforcement and age-appropriate boundaries
- Empowering families with realistic routines and strategies
- Restoring parental confidence and connection after trauma or stress
Kind Words and Play works because it’s not just about managing behaviour—it’s about nurturing relationships. Through kindness, structure, and creativity, families rediscover joy, confidence, and calm.
