Under Fives Service

Whoopsadaisy is a small, Brighton-based charity providing free services to help children with physical disabilities reach their full potential. Most of the children supported have cerebral palsy, motor disorders, or global development delay. Many also have difficulties with vision, hearing, attention, coordination, or balance. As a result, they may need support with essential daily activities such as eating, dressing, or going to the toilet, and some rely on communication aids.

Whoopsadaisy’s Conductive Education-based, small-group sessions are full of fun, movement, play, and purposeful learning – all tailored to each child’s needs. To provide the best support for every child, including those who have sensory needs, Whoopsadaisy also integrate Occupational Therapy into the sessions. Over time, the children build vital independent-living skills, are better able to communicate and express themselves, and can participate more actively in life at home, at nursery or school, and in their communities. The children have fun and work hard towards long-term goals such as sitting unaided or taking their first steps, with every little achievement along the way boosting their confidence. As the children become more confident, this empowers their parents and carers, who feel less anxious and isolated.

“Whoopsadaisy is our son’s highlight of the week. He is cared for as a unique individual, in a way that empowers him to work to his strengths.”

“Whoopsadaisy is a great place to connect with other families going through a similar situation … this is very important, both to us parents and for our little ones, we are so glad we are part of it.”
