Ripple Africa’s overriding aim is to empower communities so that they themselves can achieve a sustainable future. We strongly believe that the local people can be the solution to many of the challenges they face. By enabling them, great things can happen. Ripple Africa’s belief is in “providing a hand UP and not a hand-out,” and that philosophy has been central to the charity’s ideology for over two decades.

Our large-scale Environment projects now span six Districts, and our Education, Agriculture, and Healthcare projects are based around the rural village of Mwaya in the Nkhata Bay District of Malawi. Funding from the Lewin Trust has enabled Ripple Africa to improve outcomes for children under 11 living in these rural communities. This includes supporting our eight pre-schools which provide high-quality early-years education to more than 1,100 children; carrying out classroom repairs; providing additional teaching staff at local primary schools; and running Reading Clubs. Our Disabilities and Rehabilitation project is supported too, helping over 200 children living with disabilities to receive appropriate medical treatment and live a more fulfilling life.
